Welcome to the Planner

A little cosplay history, I have been doing cosplay since 1996, with my first cosplay of Luna from Sailor Moon on Halloween, from there, I wanted to do more. I wanted to do characters like Vampire Hunter D, Weiss Kreuz's Omi and many more characters, in fact some of them I have done. There are still more I want to do.

I have been doing other cosplays from other series and have become quite good over the years. The first few cosplays were not entirely successful due to money issues. So I am usually selective of what I will cosplay and who I will try and build as a character type thing, I don't usually even share this knowledge or building construction on some costumes because of the fear of the show being overly popular.

That's the problem with some cosplayers, they pick a show that is overly popular and just about everyone does the cosplay. Naruto being one of them, which I detest to all hell. I would say it is overly popular and I won't even touch it because I'm a little too practical for that. I am picking shows that even people will not realize it is out.

What have been my favorite cosplays have always been the ones that people don't find popular, these include characters that may seem like one shots. Omi from Weiss Kreuz is one of those characters who doesn't seem so popular at all, he's a little assassin and florist by day. He is gentle in appearance and even looks rather girly at times.

I have always picked characters that are easy to work with and Omi was no exception to that. He was actually the easiest I have seen, this was because the character was almost ready to be done. I had his hair naturally, my eyes were already blue, and most of the costume was already in my closet .

Basically it was a breeze to put the costume together and it was fun to wear, the only problem came from the weapons, since I was going based on the manga and not on the anime, this costume was later considered incorrect. Which is silly considering that Omi only carried around his darts in the anime, while in the manga he had both throwing knives and darts, so I was going with both. But with the change in rules for Nan Desu Kan, a local anime convention I had to modify the cosplay to work with t he new rules on weapons, which sucks because I can't carry around the throwing knives.

Another issue my cosplays had to face were the fact that some people are not open to the idea that I may have never seen the anime, but only read the manga. This is true with the Ouran High School uniform problem that people were pissed off about, I was doing Haruhi from the MANGA, not from the anime and when the series became popular, it became a problem. Having silly little fan girls yelling at me that the uniform was wrong was stupid in all things.

With my future cosplays, I became a little hostile toward the concepts of the popular crowd going back to the basics of old style cosplaying. I would pick costumes that were little to no fan base so that people who do see my cosplays would suddenly become aware that there are other series other than Naruto and Bleach, I'm sorry, but the fandom kills me when it comes to anime. The whole popularity of a series on the basis that the silly people will watch it because it is on TV and is considered cool only causes me to have headaches.
